What Is a Sandbox Environment?

A sandbox is a safe, private copy of your Prospectus Plus site where you can experiment without affecting your live content. It mirrors key parts of your setup so you can practise changes, test layouts, or explore new features with complete peace of mind.

Why Would I Use a Sandbox?

A sandbox can be helpful if you:

  • Want to practise making changes before applying them to your live site

  • Would like to trial new settings or layouts

  • Need a space for training new team members

  • Prefer to experiment without risk of disrupting your live content

Sandboxes behave separately from your live site, so any changes you make will not affect what visitors see.

Do I Get a Sandbox Automatically?

No — sandboxes are opt-in only.

You won’t receive one by default when your site is created.

This approach keeps things simple for customers who don’t need a testing environment, while still giving full flexibility to those who do.

How Do I Request a Sandbox?

If you’d like a sandbox environment added to your project:

  1. Contact the SMILE support team via the tech support form

  2. Let us know you’d like to enable a sandbox for your Prospectus Plus instance

  3. We’ll set everything up and confirm once it’s ready to use
