Ordering Your Subject Areas
I don't like the order that subject areas appear in when users are making their personalisation choices. Can I change this?
Yes! In fact, we're commonly asked for example if subject areas can be ordered alphabetically. While it isn't possible to alphabetically order all subject areas at the click of a button (although it may be in the future), you do have the power to manually order subject areas in whatever way you see fit. You can actually order any category item in whatever way you see fit!
The trick is to use the 'Position/Order' field which you can find in the backend edit screen for each subject area. You can actually change the ordering of the items inside of any category.
You can watch a full video guide for this here.
Where do I find the edit screen for a category item?
Hover over 'Categories' and click on the category which you'd like to edit.
How do I order the category terms?
Click on the category term which you'd like to change the position of.
Scroll down to the 'Position/Order' field
Enter a number into this field - the number refers to the priority of the item ie. '1' is the highest priority and will appear first.
Top tip: It's not necessary to use consecutive numbers (1, 2, 3, 4) to order your category items. In fact, you might prefer to order your items in multiples of, say, 5 initially (5, 10, 15). This will give you the breathing room to insert new categories into spaces in your list should they be required at a later date.
